Welcome to Blogtown NZ. This is your first post. Edit or delete it, then start blogging!
Greetings and most polite salutations! This blog is about television. What is going on with the box in your house? I mean, how many do you actually have? Are you in control of what ridiculousness pumps out of any given channel, or in the light of effective marketing are you just another victim of delicious bbq wings or perhaps imperative life insurance? So there is my intro, but let me say this before you tell me I’ m a complete w*nker – I do not own a television at all. Nothing. Nada. Yes, I have a computer, but I hardly sit on my laptop gathering the latest on popular programmes. From what I can tell, it’s either a pseudo science fiction thriller about people dying or, for levity, a bit of reality gossip which makes us all feel very proud as a nation. And then the advertisements? I am constantly being informed of these ads because they are enormously catchy. Well done, global fast food chains, who would have thought you had some good thymes mixed in with your health rhymes? I often stand in horrified correction when I begin to think that we have wrestled free from the Golden Arches which hold up our many national flags.
Here is my point: turn off the television. Spend time with your family. Play UNO, or a board game but please start interacting with your children! In my next blog I’m going to have lots of stats describing why these silly ideas like actually being playful with your kids is a good thing, but for now let’s just send a big high five to all parents who are doing it and doing it well!
High fives,
shadylemon
